IN THE SPIRIT OF CHANGE

'Tis the Season

In the Spirit of Change

Brian France claims there will be no changes made to the Chase format for next year.  So we thought we’d keep the tradition going so that when everything else changes again in 2009, race fans will be prepared.

Chase Changes- is it the Chase or the Season?

  • After the first 10 races, 10 points will be deducted for every lap led on intermediate tracks by drivers who were in the top 10 in the prior season.
  • After the first 26 races, the top ten drivers in the point standings will be inverted with the bottom ten drivers in the point standings.
  • 100 driver's points will be deducted for any emotion except joy.
  • The Hendrick Clause - cheating will be harshly dealt with unless you are a Hendrick team.

Sponsor Changes for 2008:

Tony Stewart - Hair Cuttery, Nutrisystem, and Norelco

Jeff Gordon - Desitin, Pampers, Gerber, and Fisher-Price

Kevin Harvick - Rogaine

Ward Burton - Rosetta Stone Language Systems

Kyle Busch - Sunglass Hut, Revo, Ray-Ban

Carl Edwards - Crest, Colgate, Aquafresh, Oral B

Casey Mears - Flo-bee

(We respect every guy or gal who steps inside of a race car.  Comments are all in good fun)

Suggestions for the 2008 Awards Banquet:

*  Replace the overly-dramatic female announcer who introduces the drivers when they approach the stage. She sounds like she is in the middle of childbirth which makes the three hour presentation seem more like a telethon.  We recommend….. anyone else who speaks English.

*  Provide a variety of entertainers.  We already had Kelly Clarkson at Daytona.  With all of NASCAR’s popularity, we can’t get someone else?  How about an artist that the drivers actually listen to on a regular basis?  We recommend Metallica, Nelly, Nickleback, or AC/DC.

*  Keep the banquet in New York.  Haven’t we had enough change?
