Racing Websites You Have to Check Out

Being a knowledge freak, the Internet is like a goldmine to me. In an instant, my mind is taken to other countries while my body stays firmly planted in the United States. I can find out everything I want to know and a lot of stuff that I do not.

This has transformed the way I look at racing. Years ago, I was forced to hear results and goings-on through friends or wait for printed reports in newspapers and magazines. Now I simply click and scroll.

So where do I go each week? Here is a list of my favorites (I will skip the obvious ones like Jayski, Hose Heads, and, of course, Girls Garage):

Chasin’ Racin’
www.chasinracin.com
Do you want to know what tracks are in Alaska, Indiana, British Columbia, or Ontario? This is the best place to go. You can search by track type (dirt, road, etc.), state, or track name. When you select a track, all the information you could need is available. Some of the items listed are the physical aspects (surface, length, banking, etc.), basic schedule and classes. Directions, address, phone, and website are clearly shown.

Dirt Nation
www.dirtnation.com
Dirt Nation is a two-hour radio foray into all things dirt. Dave Seay, the Director of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations at Virginia Motor Speedway, hosts this incredible broadcast. The website allows you to listen to all the season’s shows at a time you choose. If you love dirt, you have to listen.

Area Auto Racing News
www.aarn.com
This is the premier racing paper/website of the Northeast. If it happens at a track from Maine to Virginia or Ohio to New Jersey, AARN has it covered. One of the best features is the weekly column by Ernie Saxton. He takes a unique look at all of racing and often rips the industry a well-needed new one.

Associated Press
www.customwire.ap.org
Associated Press is one of the most respected news organizations in the world so it is no shock that it produces some of the finest motorsports journalism. Jenna Fryer and Chris Jenkins are two of the best and most underrated in the business. Also, the site is a one-stop shopping experience of regular news events in the United States and worldwide.

Sprint Car Daily
www.sprintcardaily.com
I have to thank my friend, John Thornton, for this link. Sprint Car Daily is based in Australia, but reports on sprints the world over. It is far and away the most complete news outlet for this exciting form of racing. I have found out about series that I did not know even existed. The writing and photos are top-notch.

Busch East Series
www.eastseries.com
Its motto is “since 1996, the unofficial home of Busch East Series news and information on the Internet”. On it, you can find nearly every press release, story, and tidbit relating to East and its teams. This is the site NASCAR should have for the series, but, apparently, does not feel the need to create.

Some of you may already visit these sites; others may not have known they existed. Regardless, these news outlets are among the best, and deserve your visits. By getting your racing news from various sites, you get a more complete picture of the sport, and few sports are better than auto racing.
