BACKSEAT DRIVERS VOLUME 32

Did you watch the NASCAR Nextel Cup Banquet?  If so, what were your thoughts?

BACKSEAT DRIVERS
  VOLUME 32:

Did you watch the Cup Banquet?  What did you like/dislike about it?

Kris:  I recorded it to be watched later (high school basketball was more pressing at the time.) Luckily I didn't spend three and a half hours sitting in front of the tv- I could fast forward through all the commercials and the race replays.

I don't think fans watch the cup banquet to see that kind of stuff- after all, we're the die-hards who already watched all the races. I watch to see my drivers and their companions all dressed up in monkey suits and gowns. It's fun to see who's in the crowd as well. More pans of the guests, including drivers who didn't make the Top 10, would be much appreciated.

I enjoyed listening to some of the drivers' wives comment during the preview before each top ten finalist got up for his speech. I really enjoyed Jeff and Kim Burton's interview and I even got a chuckle out of Tony Stewart. He was a lot funnier than David Spade! When will they find a comedian that actually makes the NASCAR circuit laugh? First Jay Mohr and now Joe Dirt? Maybe they ought to try Larry the Cable Guy- after all, all of the drivers except Jeff Gordon know who he is.

I was disappointed in Carl Edwards. From my recollection, he was the only driver that did not congratulate Jimmie, Chad and Rick.

Hope to see the banquet in Las Vegas next year!!!

Kimmie:  Fortunately, I had to work.  Unfortunately, it is a great cure for my insomnia.

Arianne:  Yes.... I watched from  Kevin Harvick to Clint Bowyer.  I'm not a big fan of re-runs. The personal touches during the videos for each driver were a nice addition.  However, the female announcer who introduces each driver would make a better mime than voice-over.

Lissa: OMG! How could I forget all about it?!?  I'm a horrible NASCAR fan....

Brianna:   I LOVED IT AND ALL THE TALK ABOUT DOING IT IN LAS VEGAS WILL RUIN MY PLANS TO ATTEND NEXT YEAR.  There is something about New York that will always make people come out and see the parade of cars and something about Times Square that must excite the drivers beyond belief.
